Grounding the Firebirds
Last Thursday night, the South Oxford 3E Power U18 Storm went to New Hamburg to take on the Jr. Firebirds.

The boys were playing their one their last two games and were hoping to start gearing up for the playoffs.

The boys started slow in this one as New Hamburg scored early in the game putting the boys into a hole. As the period wore on the boys were able to tie the game up when Quinn Lessif scored with Owen Ardy and Cale Arvai getting the assists on the goal. The Firebirds took the lead again late in the period and it carried into the second.

In the second, the boys woke up and scored three times. Quinn Lessif evened the score with Jonathan Lamers getting the assist. Kellen Whetsone helped the boys take the lead with josh Robles and Jeremy Stiles getting the helpers. The boys then went to the power play and Chase McCallum gave the boys a 4-2 lead. Josh Robles and Liam Nunn had the assists on the power play goal.

With the boys up 4-2 in the final frame, Chase McCallum added to the lead with Liam Nunn getting the assist. In a very rare occasion the Firebirds went to the power play and had the net empty. A shot was taken and Jaxon Pinard made the save. The puck took a funny bounce off the boards and rolled all the way down and into the empty net. Pinard being he last player to touch the puck was credited with the goal. Jaxon Pinard lead the boys to the 6-2 victory and also on the scoresheet.

The South Oxford 3E Power U18 Storm round out the regular season back at the storm shelter when they host the St. Thomas Jr. Stars in Tillsonburg.

Good luck boys!!!
