Semi Finals game 1
Last Saturday afternoon, the South Oxford 3E Power U18 Storm travelled to St. Thomas for game 1 of their Shamrock league semi finals.
It puts two top five teams against each other in what would be a tightly contested game between these two solid squads.
In the first period, the boys came out flying scoring early in the period when call up Gavin Balazs hammered home a juicy rebound from a Jeremy Stiles shot. As the period wore on, the boys had many opportunities to score again and it finally paid off when Liam Nunn buried his shot making it 2-0 going into the middle frame. Noa Black and Josh Robles had the assist on the goal.
In the second, the goalies stood tall as Jaxon Pinard did his job to keep the game 2-0 for the boys as they headed into the final frame.
In the third, St. Thomas started to wake up as they scored early in the period cutting the lead to one. The boys ran into some penalty trouble with some help from some questionable calls and the Stars were able to even the score. With just over a minute left in the third and the Stars once again on the powerplay, the Stars completed the comeback by scoring the winner much to the disappointment of the Storm fans and players.
Pinard had a great game for the boys. The South Oxford 3E Power U18 Storm host the St. Thomas Stars in game 2 of their series Friday night March 21at 8pm. Come on out to the storm shelter to cheer on your boys. Lets fill the Storm Shelter!!!
Good luck boys!!!
