semi finals game 2
Last night the South Oxford 3E Power U18 Storm hosted the St. Thomas Jr. Stars in game 2 of their semi final series. The Storm needed a win to force a game 3 on Saturday afternoon.
It was do or die for the boys as they needed a great performance by all to force game 3. The game started off the right way as Cale Arvai opened the scoring seven seconds into the game with Quinn Lessif and Johnny Lamers getting the helpers on the goal. As the period wore on, both teams were playing with an edge as bodies were flying everywhere. St. Thomas went to the power play late in the period and they evened the score. Less then a minute later, the boys took the lead again as Cale Arvai scored a beauty with the assist going to Johnny Lamers.
In the middle frame the boys went to power play and made the Stars pay as they scored twice. Noa Black scored the first power play goal with Liam Nunn and Chase McCallum getting the assists. The second goal came from Josh Robles who was left alone in front of the net and made no mistake going blocker side. The Stars got one back making the score 4-2 going into the final frame.
In the third, the boys went back to the power play and Quinn Lessif made no mistake with the helpers going to Cale Arvai and Owen Ardy. Once again the Stars would get one back but then the lights were turned out on the Stars as the boys would score three more putting the game out of hand. Quinn Lessif would score his second of the game with Cale Arvai getting the assist. Nate Crane would join the scoring frenzy on the power play with Noa Black and Liam Nunn getting the assists. With the score 7-3 and out of reach the game became a little ugly as the Stars fell apart taking nonsense penalties which may cost them for game three. Cale Arvai scored his third of the game much to the delight of his father who threw his hat on the ice celebrating his sons "hatty". Liam Nunn had the final assist of the game.
Jaxon Pinard played a great game for the boys leading them to the 8-3 thumping of the Stars. With the win, game 3 will be this afternoon in St. Thomas at 4pm. Lets get behind these boys and hopefully watch them turn the lights out on the Stars for the season. Lets fill the Joe Thornton Arena and cheer loud and proud for the South Oxford 3E Power U18 Storm.
Good luck this afternoon!!!
