Silver stick Woodstock Game 2
On Saturday afternoon, the South Oxford U16 BrokerLink Storm played Welland in their second game of the silver stick tournament.
It was a very physical first period with both teams trying to impose their will on one another. In this game it was highlighted by an outstanding performance by Jaxon Pinard. The boys opened the scoring late in the period when Adam Cvitkovic scored from the point with the helper from Noa Black.
In the second period, it was a tale of trips to the penalty box. The boys scored two on the power play early in the second with Urijah Jewkes scoring the first with assists going the captain Cole Shoup and Jeremy Stiles. The second power play goal went to Adam Cvitkovic with his second of the game with Noa Black getting the assist. Enter the defense and Jaxon Pinard. The boys had some undisciplined play and were down two men and two separate occasions. Pinard was unbelievable with his glove and the boys blocked shots putting their bodies on the line for the team.
In the third, the boys added to their lead when Liam Nunn scored with the assist going to Ethan Kish. Welland was able to break the shut out late in the third but it was too late as the Pinard led the boys to the 4-1 win.
