Silver Stick Woodstock Championship game
The South Oxford U16 BrokerLink Storm played their old rival Strathroy Rockets in the championship game at the Silver Stick Championships in Woodstock on Sunday afternoon.
This was a typical tightly contested game between these two teams. Very physical and a grinding it out type of game. Both teams trying to look for an advantage. Midway through the period Eli North took a pass from Liam Nunn and buried his shot low blocker side to take the lead. As the period carried on Strathroy was able to tie the game with two seconds remaining.
In the second, both teams continued the physical play with limited scoring chances by both teams. Late in the period, Strathroy broke the tie and had the lead going into the final frame.
In the final frame the South Oxford U16 BrokerLink Storm were throwing everything they could at the Strathroy netminder but had no luck. As the horn sounded the boys took a 2-1 loss and once again came so close to winning their elusive first tournament of the season.
The South Oxford U16 BrokerLink Storm have no reason to hang their heads. They once again played a great tournament coming up just short. You continue to grow together as a team and should be proud of yourselves.
