Road game in New Hamburg
Fresh off of Silver Stick weekend in Woodstock, the South Oxford U16 BrokerLink Storm travelled to New Hamburg for a rare Monday night tilt.
You'd figure the boys would be tired coming off of a five game weekend, but it was just the opposite as Ryan Gregg opened the scoring in the first minute of the game with a beauty tip from Braylon Jacques shot from the point. Less then a minute later Kolten Winkworth's shot hit a New Hamburg player in front and was deflected over the goalie into the top corner making the score 2-0. The captain Cole Shoup received the helper on the goal. As the period wore on things tightened up for both teams.
The second period was a much slower paced period with not many scoring chances for either team. Jaxon Pinard made a couple of nice saves in the period.
With the score still 2-0 for the South Oxford U16 BrokerLink Storm, the boys played a much more conservative period. You wonder if fatigue was starting to set in, but the boys again went into shut down mode and Pinard was solid between the pipes. Late in the final frame, Liam Nunn put the game out of reach making the final 3-0. Tyler Fleming and Noa Black received helpers on the goal.
The South Oxford U16 BrokerLink Storm's next few games are as follows: November 8 in Tillsonburg vs. Strathroy, November 11th in Ayr at 6:05pm and November 12th in Mt. Brydges at 7:05pm.
