Back end of a home and home vs. Norfolk
On Thursday night the South Oxford U16 Brokerlink Storm travelled to Waterford for the back end of a home and home vs. Norfolk.
The boys were hoping to continue their winning ways in Waterford. Everyone was wondering if the aggressive play from Sunday afternoon would carry over into this game. The boys would welcome back Eli North to the lineup as he was away winning a major soccer championship with his team. Congratulations Eli!!!
In the first, both teams would try to control the period and Norfolk would open the scoring midway through the period. Less then two minutes later the boys would even the score when Kellen Whetstone would score a beauty on the breakaway.
With the aggressive play picking up neither wanted to give an inch. The boys would take the lead late when captain Cole Shoup would break the tie. Jeremy Stiles would get the helper on the goal. The boys would have the lead going into the final frame.
In the final frame, it didn't take long for Norfolk to tie the game. Only eight seconds to be exact. With the boys on the power play, Urijah Jewkes buried a rebound to take the lead with Jeremy Stiles getting the assist. A couple of minutes later Noa Black took a shot and the puck had eyes as it snuck under the pad giving the boys a two goal lead.
With the physical play picking up, Norfolk started to lose control and took very undisciplined penalties late in the game. They would score late but Eli North would put the game out of reach when he broke in and put the final nail in the Knights coffin making the final 5-3.
Jaxon Pinard was great in net for the Storm. The South Oxford U16 BrokerLink Storm host the Ayr Flames tonight at the barn in Ingersoll at 7:15pm.
Good luck boys!!!
