Missed opportunity in Strath Vegas
On Sunday afternoon, the South Oxford U16 BrokerLink Storm had an opportunity to punch their ticket to the Shamrock championship series and move one step closer to the OMHA championship tournament.
Unfortunately, the boys were asleep at the wheel and paid for it in this game. The boys had no legs in this game and looked tired. Strathroy made the boys pay in the first scoring twice and putting them into a deep hole they couldn't climb out of.
In the second, Strathroy added to their lead scoring again in this period. With the boys down 3-0, they were looking for an answer.
In the third, the boys applied some pressure and Kolten Winkworth let a beauty shot fly, beating the goalie and cutting the lead. Unfortunately, that was as close as they would get, losing out on the opportunity to clinch. It makes the game with Dorchester that much more important on monday night. The winner of that game moves on and the loser is eliminated. Riley Vyse was solid for the boys in a losing cause.
